  • Hard Work Soap-Made for hard or salty water

Hard Work Soap is made for hard workers and hard waters. There's no stopping these big bubbles supported by the addition of Soap nuts*. This coconut oil based soap includes chelators** to improve its ability to work with hard water. Even though it cleans hard, it leaves skin feeling soft, and smells great.

Ingredients: Coconut oil, Soap-nut infused water*, Sodium hydroxide, Murumuru butter, Caster oil, Honey, Sodium lactate, Sodium gluconate, Fragrance, Mica. (Steel and Gravel also contains Charcoal)

Soap Care: The extra skin loving butters and oils in Showalux soaps means a little more TLC is required. Showalux soaps are a lot softer than mass produced products, so please store your new soaps somewhere dry until needed for use. To ensure you get the best from your soap make sure it free drains between uses.

Safety: For external use only. Keep out of eyes. In case of contact with eyes, rinse with cold running water. Do not use on broken or damaged skin. If a rash or irritation develops, discontinue use. Test product for any skin irritation on a small area of the skin prior to use. Please check ingredient list for possible allergens.

Due to the nature of handcrafted products, colours and patterns may vary between batches. Soap pictured is representative bar from the current batch.

    *What are Soap Nuts?
Soapnuts or Sapindus Mukorossi Shells are cultivated wild in the Himalayas. They are rich in saponins. Not actually a nut, but in fact a browny, orange berry, Soap nuts are hypoallergenic, anti-fungal, antibacterial and antimicrobial. The addition of water infused with Soapnuts in soap, aid in producing bubbles in mineral heavy water.

    *What are Chelators?
Hard water is water that has traveled through certain types of minerals such as limestone or chalk. The water picks up deposits of calcium and magnesium as it passes through these minerals.

Soap reacts with the calcium and magnesium salts. Soap forms a scum, which is insoluble in water. The reactions mean there is less soap for cleaning or making bubbles. That’s why people in hard water areas generally have to use more soap than people in soft water areas.

The purpose of chelating agents is relatively simple – to prevent the minerals prevalent in hard water from interfering with cleaning.  We use Sodium Gluconate as a chelating agent, which is produced by fermentation of glucose.
